Nigeria Politics: Youth Treks To Abuja From Sokoto In Support Of Atiku

Watatsiya said he started the journey on Monday, October 7, some hours after Atiku emerged as presidential candidate of the PDP

According to Google Map, the distance from Sokoto to Abuja is 680km and that it will take nine hours 15 minutes by car

A young man identified as Ibrahim Watatsiya, has commenced trekking from Sokoto to Abuja to show his support over the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It was learnt that Watatsiya will be arriving Abuja on Saturday, October 21, after embarking on the trek from Sokoto with the intention of paying homage to PDP presidential flag-bearer, Atiku Abubakar.

Daily Trust reports that Watatsiya said he started the journey on Monday, October 7, some hours after Atiku emerged as presidential candidate of the PDP.

According to Google Map, the distance from Sokoto to Abuja is 680km and that it will take nine hours 15 minutes by car.

Watatsiya on Thursday, October 18, explained that his mission in Abuja was to tell Atiku that youths would support him.

According to him, “I am now at Rijana and Insha Allah I will be arriving Abuja on Saturday or very early on Sunday.

“From Sokoto, I passed through many towns and villages, including Imasa, Talata Marafa, Tumfafiya, Mayanci in Maru, Bungudu, Gusau, Lalan, Kwatarkwashi, Tsafe and Kuchere.

“I am now in Rijina (140 kilometres to Abuja). I have only one message for Atiku. He should keep to his word of providing jobs for the youths; that is my only reason of going to Abuja.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that a young man, Kamaludden Bashir, started trekking from Zaria to Abuja with the intention of paying homage to PDP presidential flag-bearer, Atiku Abubakar.

Bashir who arrived Kaduna on Tuesday,October 9, a day after he left Zaria, told newsmen that he plans to reach Abuja within five days.

“I am really happy with the victory, that is why I am trekking to Abuja to show him that I am with him 100 per cent.

“Along the way, I will sensitizes thousands of youth to join me in the campaign to make Nigeria great under Atiku as president.

“I believe that only him can overcome the problems of unemployment, poverty, insecurity, communal and ethno-religious crisis disturbing the peace and stability of the country.”
