Nigeria name squad for 2019 Africa U20 Cup of Nations

Coach Paul Aigbogun has announced his squad for the youth championship billed for Niger Republic in February.


Nigeria have named a 21-team squad for the 2019 Africa U20 Cup of Nations billed for Niger Republic.

The seven-time African champions have been zoned in Group A alongside South Africa and Burundi with the semi-finalists making it to the 2019 Fifa U20 World Cup in Poland.

The squad includes team captain Ikouwem Utin, Detan Ogundare, Yahaya Nazifi and Effiom Maxwell.

Others include Akpan Udoh, Olawale Oremade Mike Zaruma, midfielders Peter Eletu, Quadri Liameed , Aniekeme Okon and Adeshina Gata and Ibrahim Abubakar.

The Flying Eagles face Burundi’s Junior Itamba in their first match at the Stade General Seyni Kountche on February 2, 2019 before facing the hosts and South Africa’s Amajita at the same venue.
